Hey guys. I got bored, so I decided to do a thing.

This is the original IS300 engine cover (google pic)

Kinja'd!!!

So I added a LEXUS badge I had (painted black chrome). I couldn't get the "L" to come out right (paint kept bubbling), so I hit it with plastidip instead. I also had some vinyl CF so I added it to the little square. Overall, I like it, but what do you guys think?

I like it! It's a nice, subtle touch. Non-rice

I'm not offended

although someone somewhere on this site is going to say "lose the engine cover"

Take out the engine cover, your 0-60 time will be better by 0.002%

Just throw out the engine cover, it'll look better without.

(Kidding! It looks very nice - the CF is a subtle touch.)

That's what I came here to say. Unless your air filter is embedded. Then don't lose it.

As far as engine covers go, that is one well thought-out looking piece. Granted, I am not a fan of engine covers. But as it is the trend, might as well adapt. Well done, pics installed?

"lose the engine cover"

Ewww, have you seen what's underneath them?

While I don't like them myself, they are like a 4th grader's bed. It's better off if you don't look underneath it.

Yep. Older engines looked so much better before the "basket of snakes"of emissions controls and, later, wiring. Now no thought is given to how an engine looks. They just slap a cover on it and "Good Enough!"

It has to make it easier for the engine packaging guys when they are laying out vacuum hoses and wiring, though.

"Whew, just run that shit wherever you want."

I think that's a very tasteful mod. If it were my car, I'd personally lose the cover, but that looks really good.

Sorry, no pics. I finished installing it at 8 pm. Here's a picture of an IS without the engine cover.

Kinja'd!!!

It doesn't look bad, but there are still 4 giant threaded bolts sticking out for the cover, so I opt to keep it on.

Even without the cover it does not look bad

Originally they didn't come with a cover in the GS300 until the IS was introduced. Here's the non-vvti version (2JZ-GE) I had swapped in my 1992 Supra.
